UEM mucci deal

Over the weekend I managed to get a lot of good training done, with some pretty extreme trials riding on Saturday with Allyn Scotland, Liam Lamb and Max Godin including some waterfall sections and some more snow! There were a lot of big crashes but thankfully no injuries. Sunday I got some motocross riding done at Balmullo in the surprisingly warm Scottish sunshine. Next weekend I will be flying out to Italy again with my new team mates to start testing bikes and start preparing ourselves for the fourth coming European enduro championship. Sadly this means I will no longer be able to compete in the Scottish Cross country championship round up in Elgin which I was really looking forward to but on the upside I'm really looking forward to getting to ride my new 2010 Husqvarna 125. The website will be getting a refurb soon with the new team sponsors so watch this space.

UEM TRials

Over the Past 7 days I've had a lot of ups and downs, with the British Enduro Championship season opener at Muntjac starting extremely well with strong special test times which had me 2nd fastest in class to then piercing my petrol hose minutes from the finish and losing all of my petrol forcing me to DNF. Although the obvious disappointment of the Muntjac I felt good on the bike, physically I've never felt stronger and before I had my problems I was really enjoying the competition despite the weather and track deterioration. On a much more positive note the decision of the team members of the UEM Mucci Racing Enduro team was announced today and I am very proud to say that I have been selected to ride the brand new 2010 Husqvarna 125 for the team which I am extremely excited about. The team has a lot of experience and I know that they are capable of bringing riders on huge amounts and I’m really excited to be a part of it. After the weekend in Italy I was unsure how I placed against the other 12 riders but clearly I managed to make an impression which landed me a spot in the team. Once again I would like to thank everybody that got me out there including Sam Davidson, Charlie Mackenzie and the SACU, my dad and all my other supporters. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Recovering from a very long and exciting weekend, on Thursday I flew out to Italy with Scottish Team Manager Sam Davidson to try out for the new UEM Mucci Racing Husqvarna team. Each European country was aloud to put forward one applicant and I was lucky enough to be selected by the ACU. It was definitely a new experience for me as it was entirely different to anything I had ever done before - it was basically a 24 hour interview and each rider was scrutinized the entire time we were there, I was surprised how little of the time over there I was actually on one of the bikes for, the Europeans clearly take a different outlook upon how to find talent than we do in the UK. on the Saturday night Sam and I flew back to Stansted Airport arriving about 12.30am UK time, after a long drive back up to Edinburgh I got home for 8.00am walked straight into my room, got into my race gear and went straight out to Lochhouses farm for a motocross on a borrowed RMZ 450. A disastrous first race left me getting lapped whilst trying to start the bike after stalling it, but still managed to come away 5th overall, with 3rd place in the Final race which I was satisfied with after i had been awake for about 35 hours at that point! In hindsight I had an extremely enjoyable weekend I think I gained some really valuable experience. I’d like to thank Sam Davidson, Charlie Mackenzie, the SACU committee and my other supporters for making this weekend possible. Now I am waiting to find out if I have a place with Mucci racing and looking forward to the Muntjac BEC next weekend.
